Over the years we have developed more than 500 products, averaging about one product a month. A gist of development history is given below

  • Oscilloscopes were destined for radio/audio amplifier industry and engineering colleges.

  • Precision, ultra reliable LVDT for measurement of earth motion
  • Precision Solid State Circuit for extending the range of chart recorders by automatic stepping
  • Digital circuit for decoding time information from wireless signals & stamping the info onto recorders
  • Product destined for installation in earth quake prone Himalayan region
  • Multi disciplinary project involving mechanical & electronics engineering and on site installations.
1972 to 1975
  1. Analog Computer
  • Developed for Prof C S Rao, Dept of Electrical Engg, Punjab Engg College, Chandigarh
  • Professional computer with 24 FET chopper stabilised IC amplifiers and 12 Integrators with Repititive operation
  • Included Multiplier, Log/anti log generator, universal mathematical function generator, non linearity simulator, logic blocks, A-D & D-A converters, analog memory pairs.
  • Product involved development of more than 40 individual circuits, corresponding printed circuits, transformers and modular plug in compatible housing.
  • Supplied subsequently all over India to several universities.
  • Many Ph D theses resulted in the simulation work done on these computers.
1973 to 75
  1. Transfer Function Analyser
  • Developed for Prof G S Sanyal, Dept of ECE, IIT Kharagpur and Prof S C Shukla Dept of Electronics Engineering, Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi
  • Needed to plot Phase and Magnitude Bode Plots of Automatic Control Systems
  • Critical requirement was a VLF function generator, down to 0/001 Hz and to have two sine waves differing in known phase which could be set linearly from 0 to 360 deg and sine, square, triangle waveforms which could be single shot or gated or gave predetermined no of cycles
  • Challenging circuit design because of need of nA leakage boards super beta transistors, poly carbonate capacitors
  • Used by practically all engineering institutions in the 70's and 80's
1974 to 1980
  1. Digital Multimeters 3-1/2 digits and 4-1/2 digits
  • Initially developed for Mr Rangarajan, Head, Measuring Instruments Division, Bharat Electronics Ltd, Bangalore. to modernize their Division, and replace HP products with Indian
  • A very compact meter made, using Nixie tubes for display & about 20 transistors, all made in India. Used dual slope integration for A-D conversion. Met all performance standards.
  • Developments were continued in subsequent years to add 4-1/2 digit model, options to measure f, C & L, switch from Nixie to LED, transistors to VLSI,
  • 100's of units sold to Industries, Educational Insts., Defence Labs
1977 to 1992
  1. Laser Range Finder
  • Developed for Instruments Research & Development Establishment, DRDO, Dehradoon, Scientist in Charge, Mr N N Mansharamani.
  • Intended for use by Indian Army's Main Battle Tank
  • Multidisciplinary project involving Electronics, Optics, Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering
  • Needed conformance to JSS 55555-joint Defence specs for environmental performance.
  • Required substitution or sourcing of strategic components on banned list of US Dept of Commerce
1993 to 1990
  1. Thermal Imager Electronics
  • Developed for Instruments Research & Development Establishment, DRDO, Dehradoon, Scientist in Charge, Dr R N Singh,
  • Intended for use in air borne surveillance by IAF
  • Challenging Mixed Circuit Design, complex grounding, shielding guarding requirements in elctromagnetic interference rich environment
  • Needed conformance to JSS 55555-Joint Defence specs for environmental performance.
  • Required substitution or sourcing of strategic components on banned list of US Dept of Commerce
1975 to 1985
  1. Power Supply Protectors
  • Developed for Mr V P Sandlas, Project Director of SLV project, then at the Thumba Rocket Launching Centre, Trivanadram, he retired as Chief of DRDO
  • Repeated failure of imported DC Power Supplies needed investigation
  • Traced the fault to transients riding on power lines and fixed the problem
  • Thyristor based high speed Protection Circuits developed and retro fitted in power supplies
1975 to 1985
  1. High Voltage Power Supplies
  • Developed for Satellite Application Centre Bangalore
  • Developed to replace 5 to 20 kV regulated power supplies imported from Keithley, Glassman and similar companies
  • Challenges of special materials, coatings, insulations,high voltage devices, hi meg glass enclosed resistances, etc overcome
  • Safety issues, special connectors, sleeves, wires tackled

1985-1990

  • Profs Anup Dey, N N Bhargava, D C Kulshreshtha at Teacher's Technical Training Institute, Chandigarh heard about our products quality from Defence scientists and called me to make a range of products for engg education. They also discussed modernizing the laboratory content.
  • TTTI felt that the student was spending bulk of his 2 Hour Lab in wiring a circuit & compiling instruments and components and little time was left for analysis of the implemented circuit. For example, after wiring a 2 stage amplifier and getting it to work, no time was left for the student to analyse its frequency response, measure its i/p & o/p impedance, study the stabilty, and measure distortion performance etc. They shifted the hands on soldering, board making to the Projects & Workshop Lab
  • Like this, a range of products, almost >200 in numbers, was developed to support the laboratory work of the complete Electronics syllabus of North Indian states
  • Most of these products were suitable and used by Colleges awarding Bachelor's in Electronic Engg. in the ensuing years.

  • Profs Anup Dey, N N Bhargava, D C Kulshreshtha at Teacher's Technical Training Institute, Chandigarh heard about our products quality from Defence scientists and called me to make a range of products for engg education. They also discussed modernizing the laboratory content.
  • Developed to meet the continuously emerging needs of maintenance personnel as Strowger exchanges were replaced by Cross Bar exchanges and then by Electronic Exchanges.
  • More than 2000 such equipments sold all over the country. The very same equipments were also used for training in maintenance of digital computers.

  • The first model introduced in 1973 was displayed at Annual trade fair at Pragati Maidan in Delhi.
  • Digital IC tester could test all types of digital IC's like gates, counters, shift registers, etc upto 16 pins
  • Linear IC Tester could test Op Amps, Video amplifiers, Voltage Regulators, Timers and Phase Locked Loops.
1980 to 2000
